World map Hello!

I’m Susanne, and this is my little Digital Garden on the internet.

Currently, I’m working on setup and growth of the Design Strategy practice at Department for Education, focusing on digital policy design and experimentation for areas like SEND and Local Authority Reform. How might we use creative and collaborative methods to think in systems and make government more joined up?

On a broader level, I care about building communities and curating spaces that make learning fun. I believe narrative is key to great educational experiences and recently completed a Masters in the subject at Edinburgh University. This introduced me to topics like natural language processing, computational narratives, and economic narratives, which I continue to explore in my work.

Designing a portfolio career that supports multiple interests has been my goal for several years. This involves experimenting with different side projects, which include:

Actively working on:

  • A prototyping and experimentation course and/or live workshop for creatives, policy people, and changemakers

Gov Experiments:

  • Service Architect toolkit
  • Interactive network mapping to support join ups across children’s services
  • Agentic design to improve decision making and questions during Discovery+Alpha. Makes use of design skills and transcript analysis.

Backlog/Early Development:

  • Career Experiments: a newsletter that shares real life lessons on portfolio career building
  • Page83: a curation tool and reading club for magazine journalism, longform articles and essays
  • LanguageLoops: create spaced repetition audio lessons from YouTube videos, to personalise and contextualise the language learning process

Aside from all the above, the following things make me happy;
Reading,
Guitar (Latin + Dark Country + Patsy Cline),
Spanish language,
Americana,
Documentary,
Palm trees,
Desert landscapes,
Tropical Deco,
Middle Eastern Culture,
Earscaping,
Santal 33

Thanks for reading and checking out my thoughts!
